If you leave work each day feeling stressed out, you are not alone. In fact, more than 40 percent of adults report that they lie awake at night thinking about the stressful events of the day. To help you start relaxing at the end of the day, keep these stress prevention tips in mind.
Act, don’t react
When you feel like you are not in control, you can get stressed out very easily. Whenever you feel your stress levels rising, figure out the cause and how you can deal with it. Having a game plan of how you are going to act in certain situations will help you take control.
Take a breath
A few deep breaths can help to reset your mind and keep you calm. Inhale for five seconds through your nose, hold for a few seconds, and then exhale through your mouth. Taking less than three minutes to do a few deep breathing exercises can help you feel refreshed.
Get rid of interruptions
Unfortunately, there is no way to completely ignore all distractions throughout the day. But you can choose how you respond to them. For each interruption you get, take one of three routes: decide its importance and make a plan, cut off the interruption, or accept it.
Sleep right and eat well
Eating an unbalanced, unhealthy diet can put extra stress on your system. If you aren’t getting the rest you need each night, your body is not able to rejuvenate. Make a strong effort to eat healthy throughout the day at get at least 8 hours of sleep to feel much better and better equipped to handle stress.
